Starfinder will provide fun and educational soccer programs during the times that children are not in school. During the 2005 summer break, Starfinder held a 5-day leadership camp for 30 high school students at Episcopal Academy and St. Joseph's University. Starfinder also piloted another new program, Camp Starfinder at Camp William Penn in the Pocono Mountains. This 6-day overnight camp allowed one hundred and ten children from across the City of Philadelphia to enjoy a week of soccer instruction, character building lessons and various outdoor activities. In July and August holiday camps were held at a number of community and beacon centers throughout Philadelphia, where two-thirds of the time was spent on soccer instruction and one-third of the time devoted to the "Character of Champions" curriculum. For two weeks in August, Starfinder offered another opportunity for one hundred and ten children to receive professional soccer instruction and character building lessons at the Lighthouse Fields in North Philadelphia. The camp lasted 6 hours per day and included soccer skills training and character lessons each morning and scrimmages each afternoon.
