Nury and Mustapha (past Starfinder graduates) are featured as Team USA in the upcoming documentary, Changing the Game, a film about six teams from three continents who travel to the 2010 World Cup's Football for Hope Festival!

We Love Our Building, But…

It’s hard to believe that we just celebrated the 5th anniversary of the purchase of our magnificent facility here in Manayunk. The building has held up well with thousands of hours of usage, tens of thousands of users, and thankfully only a handful of soccer balls lost forever among the lights and insulation. Imagine what we might accomplish in an even more dynamic space!

Assessment: Knowing How You’re Doing

One of the toughest challenges that every “for impact” organization faces (we refrain from using “non-profit” since no one needs profits more than we do) is identifying the time and resources to conduct meaningful program assessment and evaluation. Philadelphia, PA (October 9, 2012) The Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame (“SEPA Soccer Hall of Fame”) and Starfinder Foundation (“Starfinder”) announced today a community soccer educational partnership to improve access to youth soccer.

Malvern, PA (12 September 2012) Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer (PAGS) and Starfinder Foundation (Starfinder) today announced a community soccer partnership to improve access to sports for girls.

Think Globally, Act Locally

Made popular as an environmental slogan in the 70’s, “Think Globally, Act Locally” has particular resonance with our programming here at Starfinder as so many of our young people are first or second generation Americans with origins across the globe. Soccer is the world’s most popular sport and serves as a wonderful entry point for learning about the many connections we share with other cultures and peoples around the world....

It's all about jobs!

The ongoing focus on unemployment and job creation is topic number one in the national political debate. Here at Starfinder we also know first-hand the impact that a paying job has on our Senior Leader participants. For the past two summers, we have created paid internships for over 20 of our most committed participants.  Now we are ecstatic to announce a new partnership with The Hill at Whitemarsh.

In the 5^th annual C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital (Ann Arbor, Michigan) National Poll on Children’s Health, adults rate drug abuse and childhood obesity as the top health concerns and “big problems” for children.... As an organization committed to supporting the personal growth and development of young people, we are keenly aware of how these health issues have the potential to interrupt and side-track their aspirations. We are working diligently to make sure this doesn’t happen.
